On Monday 29 August 2005 Hurricane Katrina reached the coast of southern United States, reaching Louisiana and Mississippi. In his rage builds strength of a hurricane grade four at a maximum of five degrees. The tourist area of \u200b\u200bthe Mississippi and the city of New Orleans are destroyed and flooded vast areas of population. Winds of nearly 250 miles, storm and rain produce a disaster of proportions. The loss of life can not be calculated. Today we know that there were over a thousand dead. All power is powerless to the forces nature. Four days after an unfortunate delay extends government assistance. Thousands of homes were flooded and others literally flew through the air. All tourist facilities are destroyed, 25,000 people left their homes and are housed in stadiums. During the day the rescue teams find that hundreds of homes have weathered the storm by sound fundamentals. Instead hundreds of properties were destroyed and leaves by the ferocity of the winds and water have been built on a weak foundation. What is striking about New Orleans and Mississippi area is the large number of casinos, hotels and motels that were floating down by wind and washed away and violent floods of the rivers.
This dramatic story reminds us of the solemn teaching of Christ about the two builders:
"Therefore everyone who hears these words, and doeth them, I will liken him unto a wise man who built his house on rock . rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell not, for ¬ which was founded upon a rock. But anyone who hears these words and doeth them not, shall be likened unto a foolish man who built his house upon the sand: and the rain descended, the floods came, and the winds blew, and die ¬ rum and beat upon that house, and fell and great was its fall. "Matthew 7:24-27
The world is like a huge floating casino. It enjoys life and is practiced all sorts of pleasures and pastimes. Can enjoy life while you have opportunities and resources. People live as if nothing were to end, even thinking that after this life there is no other. Still absorbing the cares and concerns and the feverish and ceaseless human activity cause you to lose sight of that sooner or later have to appear before God. Yes, dear friend, as well as jazz trumpets that encouraged social evenings were silenced by the punishment of nature and all wealth, beauty, luxury, fun and fleeting joy were muted by the storm and turned into pain and sorrow so all these earthly things that we love and we will be faced with the reality of eternity. Do not be one more of that vast majority of people living insensitive and ignorant of their eternal destiny after this life.
Dear friend, we say that a storm is from God's view on the world and only those who have placed their trust in Jesus Christ as personal Savior will be delivered from condemnation and trial. These are compared to a wise man who built his house upon the rock, the Rock that is Christ. He is the only ground and safe haven not only for the day of death, not only to escape of trials that will befall the world, but to be rid of that great Judgement Day. On that day all human beings who do not know Christ as their personal Savior will have to appear before the Supreme Court. God will hear from the lips of the sentence of eternal damnation in the lake of fire for having, above all, despised the love of God manifested in the delivery of his Son into the death of the Cross. Friend do not be like the foolish things of which Christ spoke, who built on sand, that your life will be a floating casino, heedless of the things of God and his word, but especially incredulous about the wonderful message of Salvation faith in Christ. Put your trust, your faith, your whole life and the eternal destiny of your being, the Rock that is Christ and his word. He gave his life for your sins on the Cross, being innocent and suffered the punishment your sins deserved trial. During the hours of suffering that he experienced, God unleashed his wrath upon him as a real hurricane, a storm that plunged into the pain and the utter abandonment even by his God. Pain, trial and leave us as guilty sinners deserve from God, but Christ for the sake of our souls wanted to avoid by giving his own life on the Cross. "He that believeth on the Son hath everlasting life, but whoever rejects the Son shall not see life; but the wrath of God abideth on him " John 3:36
